Are you looking for a new way to promote human health and well-being in your community? Pet Partners is proud to announce Walk With Me™, a new special initiative in response to the Surgeon General’s Call to Action about walking for better health.
You already know that walking is good for you. The health benefits include increased cardiovascular fitness, reduced risk of heart disease and stroke, stronger bones, and increased muscle strength. Did you also know people who walk with an animal are more likely to meet physical activity recommendations? Imagine the impact you could have by inviting those without pets to walk with you and your therapy animal.
Walk With Me™ is a new visit type you can incorporate in a wide variety of settings with many different client types. It is available to all current Pet Partners teams and there is no additional fee to participate. The Walk With Me™ manual, available electronically in the Volunteer Center or as part of the Walk With Me™ starter kit available in the online store, will provide you with best practices and suggestions for getting a Walk With Me program started.
