It has taken me a couple of months to come to terms with this very sad news. In November, we had to say goodbye to our sweet Indie after a painful battle with intestinal cancer. He was truly the light of my life and immediately loved by all he met. I had never met such a gentle, calm soul in either human or animal before.

Indie’s time with Pet Partners was short but wonderful. He came into my life on a wintery night—my friends were returning home from dinner and Indie ran into their house as if he lived there. My friends called me up to tell me what happened and asked me to bring cat supplies over for the night. After fruitless weeks of trying to find the owners, I knew Indie was meant to come home with me. He was six years old when I adopted him, and we had five wonderful years together. He loved his visits to nursing homes. My favorite memories are the residents snuggling him close and giving him kisses. Another special memory is visiting the colleges during finals week, where some students were brought to tears because they missed their cat from home so much.  Even at the vet’s office, the staff would pass Indie around for hugs because they never met a cat before who would let them do that.

Indie truly brought joy everywhere he went, and my life is that much richer now that he was a part of it. Thank you, Pet Partners, for giving us both the opportunity to share his gift with others.
