C. Annie Peters is the President & CEO of Pet Partners. She is a visionary leader, strategic thinker and exceptional communicator who brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to the Pet Partners team.
Annie drives the strategic direction of Pet Partners to improve programming and increase organizational sustainability. During her five years at Pet Partners, she has refocused the organization on the importance of educating the public about standards for therapy animal teams and on the underlying research of why animal-assisted interventions work. Pet Partners now has a Human Animal Bond Advisory Board comprised of the leading researchers in the field of AAI and is currently supporting research about the effectiveness of therapy animal teams in partnership with the Human Animal Bond Research Institute. Pet Partners is also expanding internationally with volunteer evaluators now in 12 countries outside of the U.S. and Canada.
Annie came to Pet Partners from Special Olympics International where she served as Vice President of Personal Giving and Special Events. During her tenure, she had a broad and positive impact by introducing innovative initiatives globally. She resides in Bellevue, WA with her rescue dog, Gidget.
Dr. David Eldon Williams joined as Chief Medical Officer for Pet Partners in late 2015. As healthcare delivery increasingly recognizes the benefits of therapy animals, Dr. Williams will help Pet Partners to have a voice that represents the science, as well as the organization.
“I am honored to be part of the Pet Partners team and the growing movement acknowledging the importance of pets as they relate to human health. It’s an important conversation,” said Dr. Williams.
Dr. Williams comes to Pet Partners with a robust medical background. After completing undergraduate work at Princeton, he earned his MD from Harvard and his MBA from Northwestern. He has served as Medical Director and Staff Physician at several prestigious medical facilities as well as Associate Chairman at the Mt. Sinai Hospital, Department of Emergency Medicine. Today, Dr. Williams works with the Ocala Regional Medical Center, a level 2 Trauma Center close to Orlando, Florida, and with Sheridan Healthcare as part of their Emergency Medicine Travel Team.
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Williams is the chief spokesperson for Pet Partners articulating the human health benefits of the HAB and HAI. He keeps abreast of research in the field, creating position statements and interpreting the research for staff and volunteer leadership for program delivery and mission fulfillment. This is a key position as a Pet Partners initiated coalition develops the evidence-based public health message that companion animals are good for health.
