Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, in Santa Clarita, CA sends out a quarterly newsletter highlighting personnel, new equipment, and different departments. Their latest Spring mailing included an article on Therapy Animals, titled “Wonder Pets”.  Pet Partners registered therapy animal team Guy and Eddie were honored to represent the twenty or so volunteers who give of their time by bringing in their Therapy Animals, (mostly dogs in this case), to pose for the picture.

The system was set up through the volunteer office, by Maria Strmsek and her assistant April Garcia.  Almost all of the animals have been registered and evaluated by Pet Partner’s evaluator Sandy Dubin who has been doing this for years, most currently with her two dogs Nash and Reece.

Every patient’s bed monitor has a dedicated “Therapy Animal Request” button that the patient can press to request a visit.  The electronic signal request goes directly to the Volunteer Office and then gets emailed to all the volunteers in the program.  The look of surprise and excitement at seeing a dog come to their hospital door is what keeps Guy and the other Volunteers coming back again and again.

Thank you for all you do for Pet Partners Guy and Eddie!
